INSPECTION TECHNICIAN (NML TECHNICIAN) – 1ST SHIFT
EAGLE OTTAWA – ROCHESTER HILLS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
As a member of the Global Cutting team, the NML Technician will be responsible the manufacturing of leather standards, which involves multiple steps from crust sorting, cutting, stamping, labeling, to coordinating the shipment of the finished product/samples. This also includes reviewing the quality of the leather throughout the process.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
Production
Visually inspect leather hides/splits for quality
Perform cutting necessary to prepare samples for embossing
Sorting samples based on quality and for embossing ease
Operate the embossing press (Mostardini)
Ability to lift/load tooling plates into embossing equipment
Review/inspect embossed samples for proper replication and minimal defects
Operate clicker cutter to die cut embossed samples
Assist with labeling approved samples
Assemble approved samples and dividers into binders for shipment
Track cutting performance during blocker cutting stage
Keep an updated inventory of material availability as well as finished samples for all programs
Maintain log sheets with trial results and proper settings for specific plates
Inspect new tooling for defects and photograph/document concerns
Administrative
Manage the Corporate NML email account for all NML book orders
Maintain a log sheet for all orders (new, in process and closed)
Work with accounting department to prepare customer invoices
Prepare completed orders for shipment utilizing UPS, FedEx, etc.
Prepare reports as needed to track Monthly NML Project Performance
Track project consumables for reorder necessity
Research and obtain quotes for process improvement equipment

High School diploma or equivalent
Able to understand and speak English
