Job Purpose
Under Lead Engineer's supervision, with an increasing level of independence, performs a variety of assignments through the application of basic mechanical engineering theories, techniques, and practices. With an increasing level of independence, utilizes relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables in line with established procedures and processes. Supporting level position following defined processes and precedents to complete assigned tasks with increasing independence specific to mechanical engineering. Support the mechanical department activities on project execution, and other department tasks as assigned by the Department Head.
Main Scope/Responsibilities
Business Development Support:
Assists business development activities by maintaining an up to date personal profile and resume.
Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
May support proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers
Business Operations:
Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences & be responsible for a smooth handover.
Supports the delivery of training: assists senior engineers in developing the content of the training.
Performs all activities and prepares deliverables in compliance with the requirements and JESA internal processes.
Participates in checking deliverables prepared by Associate Engineers and Designers to ensure compliance with requirements and JESA internal processes and Project specific requirements.
Works to resolve inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues under supervision.
Ensures own technical work and activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements in line with Company practices.
Accomplishes some Department activities as assigned by the Department Head.
Technical Competency:
Supports adherence to generally accepted engineering and mechanical design codes and standards, regulatory requirements, such as ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, DIN, CEMA, etc. and customer specifications.
Able to independently perform equipment sizing calculations according to codes.
Understands and identifies information that needs to be exchanged with other disciplines depending upon interrelationships and equipment.
Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
Participates with increasing autonomy in the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings. Participates in review of drawings made by Designers.
Understand & apply SOP'S, work instructions, checklists, standard specifications & design basis during the execution of projects.
Main Scope/Responsibilities (continued)
Project Execution:
Knows the discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
Needs to fill timesheets on time.
Ensure Project Execution activities as assigned by Mechanical Lead.
Project Deliverables:
Preparation of Mechanical Datasheet, Specification, Technical Requisition, independently.
Prepare design calculations for Tanks, Pressure Vessels, and Conveyors with general guidance from the Lead Engineer.
Check the plans and documents prepared by the designers.
Takes increasing independent responsibility on the preparation of inquiry and order specifications for mechanical items, which includes pressure vessels, package equipment, tanks, pumps, and compressors of all types, agitators, various material handling equipment such as belt conveyors, bucket elevators, screens, ball mills, etc...
Takes increasing independent responsibility on the performing technical bid evaluation for the mechanical items, which includes pressure vessels, package equipment, tanks, pumps, and compressors of all types, agitators, various material handling equipment such as belt conveyors, bucket elevators, screens, ball mills, etc...
Independently review vendor documents including, drawings, specifications, calculations, in coordination with other disciplines.
Procurement Support:
With general guidance from the Mechanical Project lead, independently incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, datasheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions.
With general guidance from the Mechanical Project lead, independently participates in bid clarifications, prepares bid evaluations, completes inter-discipline vendor information review and approval, and finalizes other certification activities.
Site Support:
Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, may participate in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and incorporates requirements into engineering/design.
Independently identifies and provides relevant equipment information to site personnel.
Works with site personnel to resolve issues from office and site.
May create plans or documents that support construction, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning.
May provide on-site support for construction, commissioning or turnover.
Education
Engineering Degree (graduate or postgraduate)
Curricula: Mechanical Engineering or similar
Global Experience
2 to 4 years
Specific Experience in the position
Experience in design, specification, and selection of Mechanical equipment like pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, tanks, conveyors, and other material handling equipment.
