Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Trade Compliance Teams interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Execute all aspects of the Customs & Corporate Services Center in Morocco and Tunisia , including but limited to Customs broker management, Customs valuation, AEO program, SVB cases, import/export licenses, and audit activities.
Liaise with local customs and trade authorities as needed to meet the company’s compliance obligations and to ensure Custom clearance within agreed SLA across Morocco. Lead customs audit, if any. Advocacy and representation on Customs issues.
Perform periodic trade compliance checks and reviews on multiple import/export flows thru periodical self-audit programs. Conduct due diligence reviews, identify potential customs, trade exposures, and suggest ways to rectify and mitigate risks.
Ensure proper Customs valuation declarations and lead valuation reconciliation if required
Customs brokerage management: review Customs brokers performance and KPI’s, follow-up with customs brokers to correct transactional or process errors, provide missing information required for customs entries, import/export instructions to customs brokers, resolve issues relating to import/export clearances to avoid business disruption, manage import and export documents, assure compliance with document retention requirements, assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and assist in providing the monthly dashboard and reports
Support supplier contract reviews
Provide customs expertise and align with local management on investment related decisions. Review business needs and Customs compliance requirements on new or changing operational activities related to Morocco or Tunisia warehousing (e.g. bonded zone)
Manage and develop the Customs & Corporate Services Center team members
Maintain customs authorizations and simplified procedures
Provide education and training as necessary to business personnel, suppliers, and customers, to support compliance and support in solving import and export regulatory problems.
Maintain TE operations and compliance activities in accordance with applicable Import and Export laws and regulations, TE policies, procedures, and controls, in collaboration with Global Trade Services Governance Team, and other Operational Service Centers.
Ensure Data Accuracy for all operations and business units in collaboration with BITCOs, Master Data team & Business.
Maintain Service Level Agreements with Global Trade Services Operational Compliance teams, including Segment, and Business Unit leads, to ensure sound and consistent business practices and broad company awareness to Customs and Corporates Services requirements
Design and leverage trade data analytics to identify compliance risks, cost-savings opportunities, and other metrics of value and effectiveness
Contribute to strategic projects focused on enhancing capabilities of TE's systems impacted by Customs considerations to drive efficiencies and cost savings for the company
Partner with Global Trade Services Governance to monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes, assess the potential impact to the business, and determine the necessary actions and communications with the appropriate stakeholders
Conduct periodic planning sessions in collaboration with Global Trade Services Governance, and Operational Compliance teams to align on strategy, results, and opportunities
Support Global Trade Services on managing and selecting FTA programs as needed

What Your Background Should Look Like

Success in the role requires strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, strategic analysis and planning capabilities involving complex situations, highly developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary teams (internal and external) to drive issues and projects to conclusion.

In addition, successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

Bachelor's / Master degree required (international relations, supply chain, law or related field preferred)
10+ years of experience in international trade, focusing primarily on trade compliance and management of customs and imports, export programs in Morocco/Tunisia
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in communications, industrial, or transportation industries
Functional knowledge of customs and imports topics in multiple jurisdictions
Proven ability to build trust and work with a variety of business groups in a dynamic global organization
Highly developed decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to execute and provide results despite challenges and setbacks.
Excellent organizational habits and priority management
Customer focused with a commitment to quality
Some travel may be necessary in fulfillment of responsibilities
