Job Purpose
Support the organization in scaling its Agile transformation efforts by focusing on gathering innovation initiatives and transforming these into a product concept. The Principal Innovation & Design Engineer owns the conceptual process of the vision and strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for the potential selected products. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to conceptualizing, defining outcomes and product requirements as well as planning and managing product features through the product design process. Although this role is not responsible for end-to-end delivery of products, capturing product requirements, and defining outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs) is core part of the responsibilities. The role requires creative problem solving, rigorous analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders across JESA (and external partners).
The Principal Innovation & Design Engineer also manages the innovation process end to end, including preparing and launching campaigns at different levels of the organization (BU, function, Projects, etc.), communicating around the campaign, leading the selection process, managing the funding budget, deciding on the delivery approach, etc. He/she also deploys all required efforts to propagate and encourage the innovation mindset and culture across the organization.
Finally, the Principal Innovation & Design Engineer is responsible for the demand management process, including product requirements collection from all business requestors, need analysis, recommendations of the best delivery approach (Make, buy, use the existing product), funding options, and associated timeline then hand-over to the appropriate team for the delivery.
Main Scope/Responsibilities
Continuously monitor and reports on new trends and new technologies with potential impact on JESA activity and ensures proper organizational understanding of these trends
Support business owners in researching, designing, and testing their innovative ideas before development
Leads the innovation process through launching and managing campaigns across organizational levels, organization campaign promotion activities, supporting the presentation & evaluation of the idea process, identifying funding of winning ideas, defining delivery methodology, etc.
Conduct strategic and financial analysis for innovation opportunities and needs expressed by business teams and provides recommendations for how to implement the assessed needs/ideas and what are the high-level estimates of required resources, budget, and timelines
Proposes compelling concepts on addressing expressed needs or delivering proposed ideas using creative design methodologies
Manages Technology providers in demonstrating new concepts & technologies with the potential of positively impacting JESA business & operations
Transforming selected innovation concepts or business needs into products by working closely with UX Designer to lead the design of the user experience; and determining release goals, prioritization, implementation, and iteration plans for a product
Responsible for the good quality of the design for products developed internally, including products evolutions and new features
Participates in assessment of new features and evolutions requested for new products to identify potential synergies and delivery methodologies
Defines a holistic vision & chart for product design in JESA and ensures all products comply with the vision
Ensure expressed needs and innovative ideas are compliant with the EMS and standard work processes and or flag how these innovations will improve work processes if any
Develops an innovation mindset & culture across the company
