We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to maintain, upgrade, and manage our software, hardware, telephone and networks.
Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.
Responsibilities
Maintains records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
Troubleshoots network performance issues.
Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.
Monitors and responds to complex networking hardware and software problems.
Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
Responsible for design, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems.
Performs a variety of network engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment.
Provides assistance and oversight for information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data control, LAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.
Engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment on various platforms.
Involved in complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as, but not limited to, network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities.
Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines).
Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
Patches and maintains network continuously to meet security compliance standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology related field of study with either network, server, and system engineering focus.
Proven experience in a network administrator role
Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
Ability to set up and configure server hardware
Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
Great at organising, prioritising and multitasking Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE training
BSc degree in Computer Science or related field
Professional certification Cisco Certified Network Admin (CCNA)) is a plus.
5+ years' experience as a Network Engineer.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision and meet tight deadlines.
Travel to Lear sites, customer or suppliers facilities for projects implementation, technical workshops, technology benchmarks and training courses when necessary.
May be required to be on-call to immediately respond to and resolve critical issues.
