Position overview:
As a development engineer for Covers, you will be independently responsible for the development of seat covers from the quotation phase through to series production readiness and, if necessary, series production support in the trim and foam specialist group. You will act as an interface to the overall seat development team as well as to our JIT and sewing plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Control and management of development and component suppliers in coordination with customers
Planning of the required development needs together with the departments trim shop, test, and prototyping
Review and evaluation of the customer's specification requirements
Leading and coordinating the cutting investigations together with the trim developers
Creation and coordination of schedules/timings
Monitoring of the development with the design-to-cost principle
Supporting Sales and Program Management with change management and cost evaluation
Component release with the complete seating team and customer
Regular reviews of development progress
Evaluation, documentation, and implementation of change scopes
Product data management in the PLM (Product Life Cycle) system
Responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the part life cycle
Review and approval of 2D drawings in coordination with the customer
Route cause and quality analyses in the project team (8D report)
Material definition of the product and corresponding release processes OEM and automotive-specific
Monitoring of the industrialization process at the sewing suppliers
Definition of materials, review, and development of materials together with supplier and customer
Review of 3D Models, support of the digital development within the early development phase
Key skills and Qualifications:
Completed technical studies preferably in the field of textile technology or many years of professional experience
First work experience in the automotive industry is an advantage
Good material knowledge of cover materials as well as knowledge of the production process
Experience in quality processes is desirable
Proactivity and innovative thinking
High degree of self-organization and willingness to make decisions independently
Good knowledge of German, both written and spoken
Proficiency in both English & French languages, spoken and written
