Accountant/Senior Accountant

AmSpec Morocco is looking to hire an Accountant/Senior Accountant to be part of the team.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required. Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) are preferred.
Experience: Several years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting, analysis, and general ledger management. Prior experience in a senior or supervisory role is advantageous.
Accounting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards in Morocco. Proficiency in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Financial Systems Proficiency: Strong knowledge and experience with accounting software and financial management systems, preferably in Sage X3. Proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis and financial modelling.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify patterns, and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports. Ensure accuracy, compliance with accounting principles in Morocco
General Ledger Management: Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes, invoicing, collections, payroll preparations, fixed assets, etc.
Financial Analysis: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, conduct detailed financial analysis, interpret data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making processes. Analyse financial performance, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Make recommendations for improving financial efficiency and profitability.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Assess the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements as necessary.
Audit Coordination: Coordinate and assist in the audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing requested documentation and explanations. Address audit findings, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
Tax Compliance: Collaborate with the tax department or external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax returns, adherence to tax laws and regulations, and optimization of tax strategies. Stay updated on tax law changes that may impact the organization.
Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate accounting processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for efficiency enhancements, automation, and standardization. Implement improvements to streamline workflows and enhance overall effectiveness.
