Linux System Engineer
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a member of the Application Management team, the Service Reliability Engineer (SRE)'s objectives are, to build up their own expertise applications, participating in problem management reviews and supporting incident recovery activities.
Additionally, to build and install new application servers under the supervision of an experienced team member. To participate in project implementation and ensure the operability of solution being deployed in production.
To achieve their objectives the SRE will closely collaborate with Development and other operation groups focusing on delivering the best business outcome (DevOps principle).
Main Responsibilities:
Ensure the reliability of Departure Control System (DCS) applications and Cloud migration projects.
Problem and Incident support, stability and Security
Automation and monitoring - increase automation in supported applications
Cloud Migration - participate in moving application(s) into the Cloud.
Projects - participate in application projects, including migrations, new functional rollouts and new application components.
Training - complete mandatory training, take technical training courses that progress your knowledge in areas that your supported applications require.
Relevant Work Experience:
2+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience in Linux/Unix based environments and with Oracle Databases is a plus
Very good understanding of Linux applications administration and how our customers use them
Very good understanding of Cloud operation
Good understanding of Automation and monitoring tooling.
Good understanding of applications use of databases
Good knowledge and proven experience with configuration management tool (ansible)
Good understanding of Python, coding experience a plus
Very Good understanding of Linux
Familiar with agile working methodology
Familiar with open source development methodologies and tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven )
Exposure to cloud systems and related ecosystems (CloudStack, OpenStack, Openshift, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS API, etc...)
Understanding of monitoring tools and concepts, Argos a plus
Good knowledge on ITIL best practices
Good knowledge of Relational and NoSQL solutions is a plus
