Job Purpose
The principal piping designer works independently to complete the most demanding assignments through the application of advanced design theories, techniques, and practices. Recognized as an authority on relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables. He/She can review the design and provide solutions to complex issues and provides ideas to optimize layout and piping routing. He/She participates in the constructability reviews and implements recommendations. He/She also participates in the mentoring of the piping designers.
Main Scope/Responsibilities
Business Development Support:
Assists business development activities by maintaining an up to date personal profile and resume database.
Business Operations:
Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences & be responsible for a smooth handover.
Ensures own and discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
Mentors/trains and supports the delivery of training.
Technical Competency:
Master 2D CAD software Reach SuperUser level competency in 3D modeling software
Masters and implements generally accepted engineering and piping design codes and standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
Masters layout design requirements and can prepare and supervise the preparation of plot plans for small and medium projects sizes and to design complex areas containing critical equipment participates in the preparation of master plans for large projects and programs.
Supports the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings supports the process for interdisciplinary squad check and vendor data review.
Able to make field surveys and prepare to walk down reports
Masters & apply work instructions, check lists, standard specifications & design basis during the execution of projects.

Project Execution:
Knows the discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet project expectations.
Estimate the time and effort required for different design tasks.
Guides and supervises other designers in making design deliverables
Able to solve complex issues related to design activities
Can provide field support during construction or commissioning phase
Project Deliverables:
Preparation of plot plans for small and medium projects independently
Preparation of master plans for large projects and programs under supervision
Preparation of equipment layout independently for complex areas.
Review of prepared pipe routing studies for critical lines.
Review and update of 3D model software database under supervision
