Job Purpose
The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for Category planning and execution, including Category scoping, data gathering, and analysis, strategy definition and execution, and vendor performance monitoring
Main Scope/Responsibilities
Promote & implement a transformation program with strong communication plan to achieve a structured and resilient Category Management Plan
Develop category strategies that maximize value for money and a continuous improvement process
Develop, implement, and manage sourcing strategies within a given Category, to meet business objectives
Develop bid packages, conduct bidders’ conferences, analyze, and assess proposals, negotiate contract provisions, select/recommend suppliers, write awards, and manage performance of resulting contracts
Manage the assessment, selection, and development of strategic suppliers to meet category cost and performance goals
Manage suppliers’ relationships, perform root cause analysis and resolutions, develop, and monitor supplier improvement plans
Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and team members
Research and benchmark current category market trends and conditions, current & future technologies, supply chain dynamics, product knowledge, customer requirements and supply/demand challenges
Be responsible for the procurement of contracts including the management of cost, schedule, and performance parameters. Develop contract specifications, and terms & conditions
Maintains supplier performance database and report metrics to Supply Chain management
Education
Bac+4/5
Curricula: Business Administration, Engineering, Master degree in Supply Chain Management
Global Experience
Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience
Specific Experience in the position
10+ years of proven purchasing experience including but not limited to category management, sourcing, capital purchasing, contract development and negotiations.
