Job Purpose
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of their assigned accounts. This role is a key position within the service department and will be called upon to resolve the highest level of technical issues.
Main Scope/Responsibilities
Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
Installs, configures, and maintains system hardware, applications and application distribution systems
Craft custom scripts, reducing the requirement of human interaction
Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
Maintain complete technical documentation
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Design, Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies
Monitoring the network and suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
Mentor team members on technical issues
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager
Education
Engineering Degree
Curricula: Computer Sciences
Global Experience
8 to 10 years
Specific Experience in the position
5 years
Experience with virtualization, databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
Expert Hyper-V, vSphere, Citrix, SQL, and Terminal Services
Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems
High level problem-solving and communication skills working with autonomy and rigor
Experience with scripting skills and excellent leadership and mentoring skills
System certification is preferred and a Project Management certification is a plus
