Position Description:
Join our newly created Space, Defence and Intelligence sector in Australia, and grow as the team expands. Working closely with our director, you will develop key local relationships with government and industry. You will manage the initial engagements with clients and coordinate internal commercial processes to expand our business.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Facilitate and provide administrative support associated with personal security vetting clearance processes including:
o Supporting new clearance applications and sponsorships
o Providing advice on the maintenance of clearances
o Providing advice on clearance changes including upgrading, downgrading, sponsoring and transferring
o Requesting and managing priority processing of security clearances
• Support the application and success of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership
• Promote security awareness to direct members, and associated partners and clients
• Collection and assessment of sensitive information relating to a security clearance candidate’s background, to determine their suitability to access sensitive and classified information, facilities and assets
• Establish and maintain relationships with key Australian entities including the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (ASGVA), Defence Industry Security Office (DISO), Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), and the Department of Home Affairs
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of security procedures and annual security awareness training to ensure that all relevant personal security policy or legislative obligations are met
• Facilitate any pre-departure and post travel obligations including activities such as:
o Recording the details of the overseas travel in a security register
o Providing travel briefings/de-briefings
• Travel to client locations across in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and ACT as required
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Well-developed leadership experience, with the ability to think strategically and prioritise to achieve complex program-level outcomes
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships
• Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
• A strong sense of ownership, with a track record of managing your time and meeting deadlines
• Experience with and understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) including Defence specific security frameworks such as Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and legislative frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills in a security context.
• Flexibility to adjust to shifting strategic priorities and risks.
• Experience with Defence programs, including security management.
• Experience with entities including ASD, Department of Home Affairs and AGSVA
