We are recruiting a Product Development Specialist (Cucumber, Melon, Squash and Watermelon, Pumpkin) that would be the part of our Marketing AME Vegetables Seeds BU.
Role Purpose
Implement the strategy for the assigned vegetable crops in the designated territory
Act as the Product Marketing interface to the Regional Portfolio Manager(s)
Is the recognized local authority on product & market knowledge for the assigned crops
Manages, re-juvenates & improves the product portfolio for the assigned crops & territory by driving impactful New Product Introduction across functions
Plans and manages stage 6 trials to refine product positioning and plan for successful new product introductions (NPI’s)
Drives the achievement of the commercial (sales & profit) ambition in close collaboration with the Commercial Units (CUs)
Leads the Local Crop Unit (LCU) for the assigned crops and manages the interface between trialling, supply, marketing and sales
Dimensions
Financial: Revenue – contribute to growth sales in line with AME veg territory strategy
People: Directly managed: 0 , key internal stakeholders: ASM, KAM, CU MAN, TSR’s, MOL, planners, breeders
Accountabilities
Team:
Leads the Local Crop Unit (LCU) for the assigned crop and manages the interface between trialling, marketing & sales, facilitating a seamless hand-over of products from PLC4 to PLC7 and driving impactful New product introductions (NPIs)
Actively participates & contributes to the regional VEG Seeds Operating Unit (OU) team
NPIs, PLCM and demand planning:
Contribute local requirements to regional portfolio platforms (portfolio & pipeline requirements, Target Product Profiles (TPPs, quality specs...) to steer the development of a winning portfolio and pipeline
Quality management: Coordinate derogations request with local teams through Reliance
Registration: Coordinate with reg PFM the registration of the varieties and provide support to registration team and communicate the status with the local sales team.
Plan and evaluate with sales team pre-commercial trials (PLC 6)
coordinate Sample seed availability to ensure a timely trial seed delivery into the countries.
Through pre-commercial trials, drive assessment of NPI candidates with Local Crop Unit team & facilitate and manage pre-commercial field trials with CU sales teams
Provide phase-in & phase-out recommendations to Regional Portfolio Manager (reg PFM) & local PMD inputs + manage the local SKU range
Agree pricing objectives with Regional Portfolio Manager (reg PFM) and coordinate price execution with the CUs.
Positions the new products (segmentation, technical / commercial positioning) and coordinates the NPIs
Identifies in-& out-licensing opportunities and reports them to the Regional & Territory management
Owns the 3 - year forecast (IBP PM opinion line) & flags major changes / deviations as part of S&OP; drive pro-rate allocation; maintain a strong connection with Supply operations
Campaign design & execution :
Working with the regional team, define and agree marketing plan and annual sales campaigns for assigned crops
Drive and manage campaign priorities and designs for allocated crops and geography; secure that CU marketing budget is well applied for assigned crops.
Oversee & support implementation of campaigns by CUs, in strong collaboration with marketing operations (MOL) and sales (ASM, KAM, TSR)
Support CU sales force and demand creators (ASM, KAM, TSR and Promotors) by providing market trends, product and price positioning and technical expertise for customer complaints
Planning :
Monitor and reports relevant market and competition trends (MAPS)
Propose 5-year plan through TER Crops and Marketing Plan (TCMP); provide input to annual budgeting process to Territory Business Head
Drive definition of annual R&D, development and demo trial plans
Critical experience and knowledge
5+ years in marketing and business management
5+ years of Vegetables Seeds business and/or marketing experience
Profound knowledge of the Vegetables Seeds market and customer needs
Track-record of successful people/processes management
